Are children allowed?

Yes. We welcome children 9+ on most tours, with a few exceptions (e.g. the ‘Superior Happy Hour(s)’ Tour), as listed in the tour descriptions.

FYI – If the tour includes a tasting of an alcoholic beverage, there will be options for a small tasting of a non-alcoholic beverage to all guests under 19 years of age, and, for those who would prefer.

If you are interested in a family adventure, that is child-friendly (including smaller children and/or infants), or even a fun birthday-party – consider booking a private/custom tour that will cater to young foodies, adventurers and/or hikers!

What do we do in case of bad weather?

The tours are held rain, shine, or snow.

In the event of inclement weather, we can lend umbrellas (for urban tours) or ponchos (for guided hikes) if you do not have your own.

We advise you to check the weather conditions for your days event, and dress appropriately.

FYI – Please note: even in the summer months, here in Thunder Bay, onshore wind off Lake Superior can be very chilly!

What should I bring with me?

For all tours:

  • We recommend that you wear comfortable footwear for walking.
  • We recommend you dress for the weather with layers, including a wind or rain jacket if needed.
  • In the summer, we also recommend sunscreen, a sunhat, and a pair of sunglasses.
  • During the cooler seasons, it’s important to wear and an extra layer of clothing and consider bringing gloves and/or a hat.
  • If it looks like rain, we can lend you an umbrella or a rain poncho if you don’t bring your own.
  • * Important to note: onshore wind from Lake Superior can make even the warmest and sunniest day or evening surprisingly chilly!

+ For Urban neighbourhood walking food tours:

  • We recommend bringing a shopping bag, as you may be tempted to go shopping before or after the tour + bring home local treats and/or gifts!

+ For hiking + picnic adventures:

  • If you have a backpack, a reusable water, rain jacket + hiking shoes/boots – great.
    • If not: we can lend you a backpack, a reusable water bottle + a poncho for your tour, plus you will receive a 15% discount to purchase yourself some sturdy hiking footwear at our local Gear-Up for Outdoors Ltd. here in Thunder Bay, Ontario.  See: http://www.gear-up.com (with proof of your Seek tour ticket).
  • We recommend bringing an extra warm/wind layer, since despite sunny days, wind is often surprisingly cold off Lake Superior!
