Have questions? Here's the most frequently asked.

Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?

Yes, advance ticket purchase is required. To maximize your chances of getting the date, time, and number of tickets you prefer, please book well in advance.

What should I bring with me?

For all tours:

  • We recommend that you wear comfortable, sturdy footwear for walking. There may be ice in the winter time.
  • We recommend you dress for the weather with layers, including a wind/rain jacket in the summer months, or a warm winter coat in the cold months.
  • If it looks like rain, we can lend you an umbrella or a rain poncho if you don’t bring your own.
  • In the summer, we also recommend sunscreen, a sunhat, and a pair of sunglasses.
  • During the cooler seasons, it’s important to bundle up, and bring a warm hat & mittens/gloves.
  • * Important to note: onshore wind from Lake Superior can make even the warmest and sunniest day or evening surprisingly chilly!

+ For Urban neighbourhood walking food tours:

  • We recommend bringing a shopping bag, as you may be tempted to go shopping before or after the tour + bring home local treats and/or gifts!

+ For hiking + picnic adventures:

  • If you have a backpack, a reusable water, rain jacket + hiking shoes/boots – great.
    • If not: we can lend you a backpack, a reusable water bottle + a poncho for your tour, plus you will receive a 15% discount to purchase yourself some sturdy hiking footwear at our local Gear-Up for Outdoors Ltd. here in Thunder Bay, Ontario.  See: http://www.gear-up.com (with proof of your Seek tour ticket).
  • We recommend bringing an extra warm/wind layer, since despite sunny days, wind is often surprisingly cold off Lake Superior!

What do we do in case of bad weather?

The tours are held rain, shine, or snow.

However, if there is a significant storm that is effecting safe travel, we will either reschedule, or turn your tour into a ‘gift certificate’ to redeem at a later date.

We advise you to check the weather conditions for your days event, and dress appropriately, including sturdy footwear. In the winter months, this sturdy, warm footwear needs to be appropriate for snow/ice conditions.

In the summer months, we can lend umbrellas (for urban tours) or ponchos (for guided hikes) if you do not have your own.

In the winter months, we recommend you dress in layers, with a (non-cotton) wicking layer, insulating layers of wool or fleece, and a wind-breaker/shell – topped with cozy mittens and a hat of course!

FYI – Please note: even in the summer months, here in Thunder Bay, onshore wind off Lake Superior can be very chilly!

Are the tours accessible by wheelchair or walker ?

At this time, strollers and wheelchairs are welcome on the ‘Lake Walk‘ tours only (in the seasons without snow), due to the tight spaces in some of the food establishments we visit.

However, you can contact us to book a private/custom tour: where we can create other tours that are fully accessible, and can accommodate your group’s needs – including (but not limited to) wheelchairs, walkers, strollers, infants and/or young children!
